Emergency Services Exercise will be held Saturday, November 1st in Bridgeport. This Homeland Security Region 1 exercise will be similar to the large scale
Norwalk exercise held last year. Due to our experience at Norwalk, Wilton
CERT has once again been assigned to the credentialing function. Further details
will be forthcoming, but if you are interested in joining this multi-agency
exercise, please let me know asap at ttrawlins@aol.com
Disaster Preparedness Training
- The initial training is conducted over 6 sessions. Our next class will start in the fall of 2008 as follows:
Wed. Oct 22, 7-10pm - Intro - Douglass Room, Lapham Community Center, Waveny Park, New Canaan
Wed. Oct 29, 7-10pm - Medicals Ops/Triage, Sheltering, Team Org - Rimer Room, Wilton Library, Wilton
Sat. Nov 1, 8am-12nn - CPR & First Aid - Douglass Room, Lapham Community Center, Waveny Park, New Canaan
Sat. Nov 8, 8am-12nn - Fire and SAR - New Canaan Fire House
Wed. Nov. 12, 7-10pm - Terrorism, Disaster Psych. - New Canaan Police Station
Sat. Nov. 15, 8am-12nn - Final Review - Wilton Town Hall Complex
- Before starting the course:
Participants must be registered with Tina Gardner at Wilton Town Hall
and read the Introduction and Unit 1 of the Participant manual prior to
attending the first class. Manuals can be picked up at Wilton Town Hall.
- Upon completion of the course:
Participants who successfully complete the full curriculum have the
opportunity to volunteer as members of Wilton CERT. Members of Wilton
CERT are provided with an American Red Cross backpack, basic disaster
gear, a town certified CERT ID badge, and can participate in
additional training classes.
