Wilton CERT's 2026 Basic Training Classes have been a huge success.  Tad Wampfler (Co-Training Officer), Heather Tietjen (Membership Officer) and a long list of members ran a well oiled program of 8 classes (6 in person and 2 virtual).  Classes were taught by our own CERT members (David Heiden, Joe Lombardo, Pat Russo, & Jeff Boehme), members of WVAC (led by Brian McDermott),  Lt, David Hartman (Wilton PD), Deputy Chief John Plofkin (Wilton FD), Chris Muir (Wilton Animal Control),  and Bonnie Rumilly (Fairfield County Trauma Response Team). 

The 2026 Class was made up of 20 individuals (see list) who actively participated throughout the classes: learning: basic first aid to stop bleeds, the ICS system for structuring disaster response teams, how to setup animal shelters, and how to foster resilience and recovery among those who serve our community.  Every class member also particpated in training to put out a fire with a fire extinguisher.  

Congratulations to all of the 2026 Class members for completing the Basic Training Classes.  They also have all inidicated an interest in joining Wilton CERT!  We look forward to your joining and becoming active members.
