On January 14, 2026 Wilton CERT held a Radio Training Class at Comstock.  19 CERT Members attended.  Lt. Bryan Montgomery of Wilton Fire Department led the class.

The presentation provided an overview of the development of emergency response radio systems in Wilton and how our current system is structured.  It covered just enough technology that we think we know how the system works.  The class discussed the difference between our analog CERT radios (yellow) and our digital Dispatch (black) radios and what their respective uses are.

Lt. Montgomery then provided a hands on demonstrations of how to use the Dispatch radios to navigate through the complex State mandated Zones and Channels.  With this guidance we should be able to be more strategic on how we use our radios.  We are working with our fellow Region 1 CERT towns to coordinate better with them on radio usage and this training should allow us to be leaders in that effort.
